Council of Arab Ambassadors - Labour Party Conference
In keeping with custom, the Council of Arab Ambassadors hosted a dinner in honour of the Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah at the recent Labour Party conference that took place in Manchester.
The Foreign Secretary David Miliband, Baroness Symons (a Director of the A-BCC) and other senior politicians and guests attended the dinner.

The Secretary General represented the Chamber at the occasion.

HE Khalid Al Duwaisan, the Ambassador of Kuwait, spoke on behalf of the Council of Arab Ambassadors. He emphasised the great importance of resolving the Middle East conflict, which was fundamental to the security and the economic security of the region. He praised the PM for his visit to the region and his belief that an economic road map for peace was necessary.

The Prime Minister agreed with the Ambassador’s comments on the strong relationship that exists between the UK and the Arab world, which he is committed to continue strengthening. He then addressed the issue of Palestine where he agreed with the ambassador’s comments in the need for an economic road map for peace. The Prime Minister said that he was convinced after his visit to the region that with goodwill there was more common ground for peace than ever.
