Secretary General Presents at the AIWF Conference June 2008

Dr Afnan Al-Shuaiby, who is also a board member of the Arab International Women's Forum, presented to 180 participants on the topic and title of the AIWF conference, 'Partners for Change: Realizing the Potential of Arab Women in the Private and Public Sectors'.

Representatives from over 20 countries, from both the public and private sector came together at the first US-based conference of the Arab International Women’s Forum (AIWF), hosted by the World Bank Middle East North Africa in Washington, DC on 22 – 24 June 2008. This included government representatives, international business leaders, academics and AIWF members and global partners from the US, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East.

This event gathered Arab and international policymakers in an attempt to stimulate dialogue aimed at removing roadblocks to women’s participation in the politics, economies and society of the Arab world. Guest speakers examined opportunities for the entrepreneurial, political, and economic issues.
