The A-BCC Concludes New Agreement with the Jeddah Chamber
The Arab-British Chamber of Commerce has reached a Memorandum of Understanding with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry which will herald closer co-operation between the two chambers in the areas of promoting bilateral trade, the organisation of joint events and activities.
The MoU was signed in Jeddah on behalf of the organisations by Dr Afnan Al-Shuaiby, Secretary General & CEO of the A-BCC and Mazen Baterjee, the Vice Chairman of the JCCI.
The agreement was signed in the presence the JCCI Secretary General Mustafa Sabri.
Welcoming the development, Dr Afnan stated that 'the MoU would strengthen the ability of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce to assist its members to take advantage of the increasing opportunities that exist for trade and cooperation between the UK and Saudi Arabia'.
Mazen Baterjee said that 'the agreement would open doors to new business by making it easier for companies to do business together in their respective markets.'
The agreement will enhance the strong trading relations that have long existed between the two kingdoms. Saudi Arabia is currently the UK’s 23rd largest export market, with exports worth £1,873.2m and total imports of £922.3 recorded in 2007.
The Kingdom is the UK’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and second largest export market in the region after the UAE. The UK is Saudi Arabia's second largest foreign investor.
Under the terms of the MoU, the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce will see 464 of the Jeddah chamber’s top members becoming associate members of the A-BCC.
