ABCC trade mission to Texmed 2009
An Arab-British Chamber of Commerce delegation led Mr Abdeslam El Idrissi, Director of Trade Services and Mr Cliff Lawrence, Deputy Manager, took part and exhibited at the Texmed 2009 trade fair held in the Tunisian capital, Tunis.
Taking place over three days from 10-12 June at the Kram Exhibition Centre, Tunis, the international event showcased exhibitors totalling well over 250 who displayed the best of their garment industries with products ranging from jeans to ladies and men’s wear and accessories. The exhibition was complimented by daily fashion shows.
Many exhibitors to whom we spoke welcomed the participation of the A-BCC and the involvement of a UK delegation.
Mr Derek Haughton, Managing Director of Iconic Ltd, a UK belt manufacturer, who joined the A-BCC delegation, commented:
“I visited Texmed for a number of reasons; one to source new suppliers from a new market that I had never thought of visiting. The attraction was more inquisitive and the package on offer, the free hotel accommodation and a special air fare of £191, was the best investment I ever made.
“Usually when visiting trade exhibitions, my company, Iconic Ltd has to arrange all travel and accommodation in areas and locations ourselves with no local knowledge. One of the great benefits of the A-BCC delegation is that I only needed to supply my full name and all my travel and accommodation needs were organized on my behalf.
“These needs were dealt with quickly because of the A-BCC’s local knowledge and this saved Iconic Ltd a lot of time and resources. On the ground the A-BCC’s local knowledge allowed me not only to experience the trade show but the culture of Tunis as well,” Haughton continued.
“I achieved what I expected to achieve concerning the Texmed 2009 show itself, and would definitely in the future, visit an A-BCC sponsored event because of their friendly and professional assistance and outlook,” he concluded.
Arrangements are now in progress for 2010 where the A-BCC hopes that not only will we be taking another delegation, but we also hope to secure UK Exhibitors.
