Visit to Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Chamber of Commerce
3rd and 4th March 2010
The Secretary General and CEO of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, Dr Afnan Al-Shuaiby, paid a visit to the city of Birmingham on 3 and 4 March. During her visit she met with top officials from Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.
Accompanied by Mr Abdeslam El Idrissi, ABCC Director of Trade Services, the CEO visited leading companies in the city’s main industries such as jewellery and silverware among others. A dinner hosted by Cllr Alan Rudge LLB in her honour was attended by prominent businesswomen in the city and marked the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Dr Afnan also met the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Michael Wilkes and Lady Mayoress Mrs Vivienne Wilkes with whom she discussed cooperation between the city and the Arab world. Dr Afnan offered to facilitate a senior Arab business delegation to the city to help raise awareness of the potential for greater cooperation.
