Mr Donad Maclauchlan

Donald Maclauchlan comes from Scotland.  The first part of his working life was spent in the British Army.  In the course of a number of Middle East postings he learned Arabic at the Middle East Centre for Arabic Studies in Shemlan, Lebanon.

  • Coming out of the Army he joined Rolls-Royce and became their Middle East Director covering aviation and industrial products throughout the Middle East, based in Bahrain and then Jeddah.  On his return to Britain in 1987 he joined GEC and was their Middle East Director until he retired in 1999.
  • He now lives in Argyll but maintains a close interest in the Middle East region and has spent two periods in the West Bank as part of an accompaniment programme designed to help and ease the situation in which the Palestinian population finds itself.
  • He has been a Director of the ABCC since 1999.
