Dr Humayon Dar
Dr Humayon Dar is Managing Director of Dar Al Istithmar, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank offering Sharia advisory services for structuring of Islamic financial products. Formerly, he was at Loughborough University where he was involved in setting up and directing a postgraduate degree course in Islamic economics, banking and finance.
Educated at International Islamic University Islamabad (1986-91) and Cambridge University (1991-95), Dr Humayon Dar is a world-known expert of Islamic banking and finance.
Apart from his full-time job, he sits on Boards of Directors of Charity Bank Limited (a member of its Audit and Compliance Committee), Olive Tree Educational Trust (a London-based educational initiative for young Israelis and Palestinians), the Sudanese International Academy (Chairman of Board of Trustees), and Islamic Financial Services Institute (Chairman of Board of Directors).
Dr Dar is involved in setting up a joint educational initiative between Cass Business School (City University London) and Dubai International Financial Centre. He is also a member of the Advisory Council of International Islamic Financial Market, a Bahrain-based organisation set up for increasing liquidity in Islamic financial markets.
