Mr Anthony Bruce
Mr Bruce was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire before completing a BSc (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London in 1959. In he 1967 took the Executive Development Programme at London Business School.
- Since 2001 Anthony has been Chairman of Airborne Systems, formerly part of Wardle Storeys Plc, which is a world leader in the design and manufacture of military parachute systems, high and low-level special forces parachutes and aerial delivery systems (annual turnover approximately £50 million).
- Between 1997 and 2005 Mr Bruce was a non-executive director of Infast Group Plc, formerly Haden MacLellan Holdings Plc (HMH), and Chairman of their Audit Committee.
- Mr Bruce has been, between 1996-2001, Senior Advisor (part-time) to BAE SYSTEMS Plc with emphasis on parts of the Middle East, particularly the United Arab Emirates, and Central/Eastern Europe, particularly Russia. From 1996 to February 2001 was Chairman, Marconi Overseas ltd, then resigned directorship on company being transferred to a new BAE SYSTEMS joint venture.
- 1998-1999: A non-executive director of Plysu Plc (Plysu) and Chairman of their Remuneration Committee.
- 1992-1996: GEC PLCGroup Marketing Director, GEC-Marconi Ltd Joined The General Electric Company Plc (GEC) in November 1992 as a Group Export Director and subsequently Group Marketing Director, GEC-Marconi Ltd until June 1996.
- 1982-1992 JOHN BROWN PLC, Director Group Marketing. Responsible for the Group's international marketing activities, including offices in Russia, the Middle East and the Far East, particularly China and Hong Kong.
- 1968-1982 P-E CONSULTING GROUP. Managing Director, PE Project Consultants and P-E International Operations. Initially undertook a wide range of management and technical consulting assignments in many parts of the world. Subsequently Regional Director, Middle East (1975 - 1977) and then Managing Director responsible for both the international business and the project engineering and management business of the P-E Consulting Group.
- Mr Bruce has considerable International Project Related Experience, including involvement for over 20 years at a senior level in the international marketing of major capital projects and the negotiation of related contracts, including developing top level client contacts, selection of agents, liaison with major international finance and aid institutions (eg ECGD, Merchant and Clearing Banks; World Bank; IFC; Asian, African and East European Development Banks; UK Government (DTI, MOD, PEP/OPF, ODA), UN Agencies, Islamic and European Development funds etc).
- Other positions held by Mr Bruce include the following: Director, Job Creation Limited, January 1979 - April 1982; Chairman, TECHNEX - Technology Export Marketing Group of 20 companies, 1979 – 1983; Director, Middle East Association - Trade Association (approx 400 member companies), 1982 - 1987. Chairman 1987; Member of the Committee for Middle East Trade (COMET) - Government Area Trade Advisory Group, 1991 – 1998; Council Member, Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, 1995 – present; Executive Council Member of British-Soviet Chamber of Commerce (approx 600 member companies), Chairman, Moscow Office Committee, 1984 – 1993; Member of the East European Trade Council (EETC) - Government Area Trade Advisory Group, 1985 - 1989 and 1991 – 1995; Member of the Council of Wilton Park, the international college of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, 1991 – 2002.
- Anthony’s charitable activities have been: Trustee of the Sir Heinz Koeppler Trust, Wilton Park, 2002 – present; Governor and now Chairman of The Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability, 1997 – present; Member of St George's House Association at Windsor Castle since 1967; Governor, Wellington College, Berkshire 1999 – present; Council Member of the Anglo-Jordanian Society, 1988 – 1993 and 2001 – present (Deputy Chairman)
