Mr Geoffrey Simmons

• Geoff was born In 1958 and was educated in Coventry. After originally qualifying as a Mechanical Engineer and serving a technician apprenticeship in the car industry, he joined GEC Telecommunications in 1980 as an Industrial Engineer.
• Geoff joined the newly formed Defence Systems Division of GEC Telecommunications in 1984 where he fulfilled a number of commercial and sales support roles, ultimately taking commercial responsibility for a $400 million tllnkey communications programme. including a large civil works content.
• In 1990, Geoff was awarded a post-graduate certificate in Management from Coventry University.
• In 1993, Geoff was appointed Commercial Director of the GEC Strategic Communications Systems business and led the successful bid to the UK MOD to take over the management of the SANGCOM programme, providing operations, maintenance and training for the Saudi Arabian National Guard, Nation-wide communications network Geoff was then based in Saudi Arabia between 199:; and 1997, taking responsibility for all commercial and financial aspects of the SANGC( Hv1 contract.
• In mid 1997, Geoff returned to the UK to become Director Defence Projects for the GPT Strategic Networks business. This role included responsibility for negotiating, mobilising and then managing a contract for a $300 million upgrade to the SANGCOM network.
• In November 1999, Geoff was appointed Vice President and then Senior Vice President for Marconi in the Middle East, based in Riyadh. He is the managing director of three Marconi subsidiary companies:
• GPT Special Project Management limited. a ,'holly owned subsidiary company which provides plan, build and operate service HS for the Saudi Arabian National Guard;
• Marconi Middle East, a limited liability company head quartered in Riyadh and licensed under the new Foreign Investment laws in Saudi Arabia;
• Marconi Middle East LLC, a limited liability Company in Dubai
• He is also a director of Dubai Marina Technologies limited, a Joint Venture company with Emaar Properties PJSC and is a member of the Saudi British Joint Business Council.
• Geoff is married with two young children. His leisure activities include golf and tennis.
