Ms Sandy Shaw
Sandy Shaw is the Head of the Middle East Team at Coutts & Co, London. Her team, which covers all the major Middle Eastern countries, is one of the fastest growing and most successful areas within the Bank.
- Sandy’s role covers several aspects. She has responsibility for a busy and diverse team of ten private bankers and their support staff working out of London, Geneva and Dubai. She also holds a Senior Management role within the International client group, as well as holding personal responsibility for a substantial book of very high net worth Middle Eastern based individuals.
- Sandy joined Coutts in 2000 following a highly successful 30-year career with the United Bank of Kuwait in London. During her time with UBK she managed their two busy West End Branches, becoming Assistant General Manager, providing invaluable policy input as part of the Senior Management Team. Sandy pioneered the introduction of the private banking concept into the Middle East market in the late 1980’s, and personally oversaw UBK’s professional handling of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in August 1990. She was appointed Chief Executive – Private Banking in 1992.
- In Coutts, recognition of her all round strength in not only building, developing and mentoring one of the most efficient sales teams within the Bank, but additionally leading from the front as the teams most successful Banker, resulted in Sandy being named a Senior Client Partner in 2003. Her personal client list reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of the Arab world, and many have been personally introduced to Coutts by Sandy over the past five years.
- When Sandy is not travelling around the Middle East seeing her clients or supporting her PB’s in their market countries, she finds time for personal travel and her other hobbies which include swimming and gardening.
