The Chamber at a Glance
The Arab-British Chamber of Commerce has been committed to the encouragement of Arab-British trade and economic co-operation since 1975.
We are uniquely qualified to give British and Arab businesses the expert and reliable guidance they need to trade successfully in the Middle East and the United Kingdom, while also playing a wider role in the strengthening of Arab-British relations. You will find our motto, ‘Friendship through Trade’, the distinguishing ethic to our many and varied services.
If you do not know your way around the Arab world, the prospect of trading there could be a daunting one. Each Arab country has its own culture, traditions, etiquette and methods of doing business. The same issues apply for Arab countries entering the UK market. In an increasingly competitive world, the services and the experience offered by the Chamber could prove invaluable to your enterprise.
The Arab-British Chamber of Commerce works in close co-operation with the Arab businesses and official bodies, particularly the League of Arab States and its specialised agencies, Arab diplomatic missions in London, Chambers of Commerce in the Arab world at a federal, national and local level as well, as Arab-Foreign chambers.
The Chamber’s Trade Services department benefits directly from this unrivalled co-operation, and provides the only Arab League endorsed certification services for Certificates of Origin, commercial invoices and other commercial documentation required for the export of goods to Arab countries. In addition, the Chamber provides a Visa Service allowing members to process their visas without having to come to London, thereby saving valuable time, trouble and cost.
It has developed strong and enduring links with the British business community, through the Chambers of Commerce, trade associations, financial institutions and government departments. With these connections and thirty years of experience, the Chamber is uniquely placed to put you in contact with a well established business and political network vital for achieving results in your bilateral endeavours. To facilitate and promote networking opportunities, the Chamber organises regular events that cover all sectors of trade and commerce, and inclusive of all Arab countries. These events have been held under the guise of conferences and meetings, workshops and seminars, trade missions and exhibitions such as the highly successful December 2004 Palestinian Trade Fair
The Chamber is highly active in its publications, and is dedicated to informing our members about the new issues and opportunities affecting Arab-British trade. Our Business Bulletin is issued fortnightly to keep the reader abreast of the very latest news of tenders and projects in the Arab world, business leads, currency exchange rates and developments in Iraq.
The Chamber’s Business Services department can provide contact details and handling of enquiries on both British and Arab business communities, and is complimented by our Business Resource Centre which provides extensive information in the form of a comprehensive library boasting the latest trade publications and material in Arabic and English.
For those interested in learning Arabic, be it for a basic exchange of greetings, gaining cultural awareness or progressing to a developed conversation, we offer Language Courses that are flexible to your needs concerning the lesson content, location and time.
