Points to Remember
Checklist:
- Answer faxes and business correspondence promptly. Do not delay in getting back to people.
- It is very important to keep in mind that in Britain many business people's diaries are booked up months in advance. It is, therefore, advisable to fax all the people you need to meet on a business trip to the UK as far in advance as possible to request appointments. You are much more likely to meet all the people you need to see if you make it possible for them to fit you into their schedules .
- Most business will be conducted either at your contact's office or over lunch. Do not expect an elaborate lunch. The British usually schedule one-hour meetings and run on tight schedules.
- If you need a UK company to quote in a currency other than in Pounds Sterling, tell them so.
- Do not drag out payment to your agent in UK.
- The British often use first names in business. However, it is advisable not to address someone by their first name until invited to do so.
