Checking a Company's Background
UK limited companies are not obliged to be members of their local chamber of commerce, as companies are in some Arab countries. However, in the UK limited companies are required to register at Companies House and they are legally required to submit audited accounts on an annual basis. It is thus possible to check on the background of a company by accessing this data.
There are a number of ways of doing this, including by accessing the Companies House website. It may be easier to contact a company search and business information provider that can carry out a check on your behalf. Companies that carry out credit investigations are listed as "Corporate Investigations Consultants" in the Useful Addresses
