The Arab British Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Embassy of The Republic of Iraq, with the presence of H.E. Dr Salih Husain Ali, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, is hosting this unique event to explore the many opportunities available in Iraq.

Iraq’s economy is gradually picking up following economic strains of the last four years. Real GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.6% in 2018, thanks to a notable improvement in the security situation and higher oil prices, reversing a contraction of 1.7% in 2017. The non-oil economy has picked up speed and grew at 4%, while oil production was slightly less than 2017 in line with an OPEC+ agreement. Recently, Iraq’s economy received a boost of confidence with the signing of several trade agreements with its neighbours and reconstruction efforts are proceeding with the attraction of more inward investment.

International Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox MP, who visited Baghdad in April 2019, announced that UK Export Finance (UKEF) would make an additional £1 billion available for British firms operating in Iraq and to support UK exports to the country. At this event our speakers will highlight this investment potential in Iraq and the opportunities for collaboration with UK business.

Registration is now open for the event, which will be held at the Chamber’s premises on Tuesday 11th June (9.30am registration).  The event (from 10am to 12pm) will consist of presentations, a panel discussion and will be followed by a networking reception from 12pm until 1pm.
