We will be joined by His Excellency Mr Abdesselam Aboudrar, Ambassador of The Kingdom of Morocco in London. The discussion will be chaired by The Rt Hon Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean, Chairman of the ABCC, and will be joined by Mr Bandar Reda, Secretary General & CEO of the ABCC.

The event will provide a briefing on Morocco’s latest projects and opportunities for doing business as the country seeks to encourage a new partnership with foreign investors. The discussion will be followed by Q&A.

His Excellency Mr Abdesselam Aboudrar, Ambassador, The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in London

Prior to his nomination as Ambassador to the United Kingdom in October 2016, H.E. Abdesselam ABOUDRAR is a civil engineer graduate of the prestigious  Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris , an Economics graduate of the University of Rabat , and holder of an MBA from-ENPC–Paris . He developed an extensive experience (1974-1998) as a civil engineering consultant, especially in the field of project appraisal, project management and project finance. In 1998, he joined the “Caisse de Dépôt & de Gestion”, the main financial public institution in Morocco (savings custody, institutional investment and fund management).
He served as Head of Department for savings, insurance and pension (1998-2003). In 2002, he served as Secretary General of CDG then promoted to Deputy Director General in 2006. In 2008, he was appointed President of the Central Authority for Corruption Prevention in Morocco. In 2011, he was appointed as President of the 3rd Arab Anti-Corruption and Integrity Network (ACINET). He is an active member of a number of scientific, professional and civil society bodies. Abdesselam ABOUDRAR is 70, married, and father of three Children.


The Rt Hon Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean, Chairman, The Arab British Chamber of Commerce

The Rt Hon Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean is a senior Labour member of the House of Lords and a business leader. Formerly Deputy Leader of the House of Lords, Baroness Symons was a Minister in the UK Government from 1997 until stepping down in 2005. Among her government posts she was Minister for the Middle East, Minister for International Trade and Minister for Defence Procurement, and the Prime Minister’s envoy to the Gulf.
Previously a trade union general secretary, she was an Equal Opportunities Commissioner and a governor of the London Business School. As well as working closely with DLA Piper, Baroness Symons is now involved with a number of other commercial organisations, including roles as a non-executive director of British Airways, and as an advisor to other companies, including those with strong Middle East links, and with a number of not-for-profit organisations, including the International Red Cross.


Mr Bandar Reda, Secretary General & CEO, The Arab British Chamber of Commerce

Mr Bandar Reda took up his position as Secretary General and CEO of the ABCC on 1st March 2019. As CEO for the Chamber, Mr Reda will contribute his expertise and a proven track record, along with his combined experience as a diplomat and extensive hands-on experience in the private sector to help bring the Chamber to the next level. Mr Reda has a distinguished professional career of more than a decade in banking and corporate industry at SABB HSBC Saudi Arabia, prior to taking up senior positions in the diplomatic service of his country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the Commercial Attaché in the UK & Europe and before that in Italy and the Saudi delegation to BIE in Paris.
Mr Reda holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration from Orlando USA. He was an Executive Member of the Saudi-Italian Business Council, Council of Saudi Chambers; a Member of the Business Youth Committee, Jeddah Chamber of Commerce; a Member of the Saudi Economy Association; and a Member of the Saudi Arabian legal accountants. Mr Bandar Reda’s undoubted experience and abilities is clearly demonstrated in his extensive career of service in both public and private sectors. This appointment will enable him to make a vital contribution to the strengthening of the Chamber’s activities and extend its influence as the leading strategic business services organisation in the UK working to improve bilateral trade.
