The ABCC hosted a webinar on 15th June in cooperation with Umm Al Quwain Free Trade Zone. The event drew the attention of UK exporters and investors to the attractions of the UAQ Free Trade Zone as a strategic base for doing business in the Gulf and wider MENA region.
A keynote contribution was delivered by H E Mr Humaid Mohamed Ben Salem, the Secretary General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce in the UAE. The guest speaker addressed the opportunities for UK-UAE cooperation post-pandemic with particular reference to the logistics and manufacturing sectors. He was joined by Mr Johnson George, General Manager, UAQ FTZ, who gave details of the incentives and services offered by the FTZ, located in the emirate of Umm AL Quwain.
Mr Peter Bishop, Deputy CEO, London Chamber of Commerce & Industry, discussed opportunities for inward investment in the UK, the support and infrastructure available to them and the possible impact of Brexit on the country's trade and business environment. The final speaker was Ms Emma Heelis-Adams TEP, Partner, Burges Salmon LLP.
The event was chaired by Mr Bandar Reda, Secretary General & CEO, ABCC who explained how the chamber can assist UK and Arab companies by means of its expanding business services.
